Die unter Euch, die auch den Planet Symlink lesen wissen, dass ich bei Twitxr eine Art Fotoblog betreibe. Twitxr wurde von Fon betrieben. Das sind die mit den offenen WLAN Access-Points und der 400-Mio-Euro-Idee. Nachdem länger schon der Hinweis auf der Webseite stand, dass Ende Monat Schluss sei, bekam ich gestern noch eine Mail.

Dear Twitxr users,

we have a sad announcement to make: Twitxr is shutting down.

Although Twitxr was one of the pioneers of today's picture sharing services, it never quite got out of its status as a
side project. After seeing our number of active users declining steadily over the past months, shutting down our service
was inevitable sooner or later.

If you are wondering what's going to happen to all your uploaded pictures, we have devised a simple way for you to
download all of them in one zip file. Just follow this link: http://twitxr.com/download_user_photos/ (you need to be
logged in with your Twitxr account). You still have until the 30th of September to download your files, after that date
Twitxr (and your content) will no longer be available.

Der Download der Bilder hat bisher noch nicht geklappt, was evt. an meinem Squid-Proxy liegt. Muss ich mal noch ohne versuchen. So oder so, kam heute grade eben eine weitere Mail bei mir ins Postfach geflattert.

Gute Nachrichten also! Meine Bilder werden also weiterhin auf Planet Symlink erscheinen. Twitxr ist für einen Hobbyhobbyfotografen mit Kamera am Handy (Nokia N900) ideal. Upload geht via Web oder noch praktischer E-Mail und ist damit so systemunabhängig, wie irgend möglich. Macht auch mit!
